Action Alert – email or write the FDA on how you want to define Natural

The GMA wants Natural defined to included genetically engineered material.  Here is the letter they wrote to the FDA in 2013.  But is genetically engineered ingredients, natural?

We all know that the “natural” label really means nothing, and if DARK Act legislation does get passed, it would most likely allow genetically engineered ingredients to be listed as “natural”

The FDA is currently taking comments on the use of the word NATURAL on food labels.  Let the FDA know what you think. Read More

GMOs Endanger Our Health and the Farmland

Genetically modified organisms are not usually the first topic of discussion when people decide to rescue an animal from a shelter. But this became a very popular subject in our home after we adopted a kitten a couple of years ago who developed severe food allergies. While searching for a remedy to our cat’s ailments on the internet, I came across the term GMO for the first time. I had no idea that pet food was so laden with GMOs. As I researched further, I was astonished to learn that our food was also full of them. Read More

A Little Giddy With My First Box of the New Season

Its that time of year again to sign up for Community Supported Agriculture in the Commonwealth of PA.  What does this mean? In my house-hold it means a weekly box full of wonderful color and the rich smell of the dirt.

I open up the CSA box as if ripping open a package at Christmas full of wonder anticipating the prized vegetable of the week! My mouth begins to water when my eyes fall upon the bright colors and with the release of the smells of the Earth. I’ve been a member of a CSA for over 12 years now, and I still get a little giddy with my first box of the new season.  It’s now time to sign up for your first box; it changed my life and I hope it will change yours.  Read More
